Served directly on a rock or crushed in the with the ice, the margarita is one of the most popular cocktails of all time. The margarita is a classic cocktail that dates back to the 1930s and is just as popular today! It can cool you down on a hot day or warm you up on a cool day; Any day is a Margarita Day.
Ingredients
- 90 ml of Silver Tequila
- 60 ml of freshly squeezed Lime Juice
- 30 ml of regular Sugar Syrup
- 15 ml of Cointreau
- Ice cubes
Steps to make it
- Chill a cocktail glass, and then rub its rim with lime juice and dip it in coarse salt.
- Add tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, Sugar syrup and ice together in a cocktail shaker.
- Shake for good 30 – 40 seconds
- Strain into the glass over an ice cube.
Variations of Margarita
Flavored liqueurs
Besides Cointreau, other flavored liqueurs can be used are different brands of triple sec, or blue curaçao (yielding the blue margarita). In addition to orange-flavored liqueurs, secondary liqueurs can be used to prepare this cocktail.

Frozen margarita
In addition to being shaken and served “up” like other cocktails, margaritas can also be served as a blended ice slush similar to other tropical-inspired mixed drinks like the hurricane or piña colada. This variant is known as a frozen margarita. The ingredients can be poured over crushed ice in a kitchen blender. A lemonade margarita can be quickly whipped up by using frozen lemonade concentrate in place of lime juice.
