The Buddhist Trio

Maharashtra is a state full with hidden treasures. Not so far away from Mumbai, near the town of Kamshet, there exist this trilogy of the buddhist caves – The Karla, The Bhaja, and The Bedse

Located not far away from the town of Kamshet, these caves can be covered over a weekend. All of these are accessible by a motor transport leaving behind a small trail of steep steps to climb. Each of these set of caves have multiple smaller caves in the surroundings, one of which being the main, The Chaitya. The main cave is ornamented with numerous sculptural panels that would take you back the in Buddhist era of 1st thru the 6th Century CE

These cave temple are protected as a Monument of National Importance, by the Archaeological Survey of India. They are usually are open for a visit from 8am to 5pm daily baring the days weather port challenges around the safety of the visitors

I had it in my mind to cover these for a very long time. Given that I travel to Pune very frequently, I decided to cover this over two weekends. Of all the three, Bedsa is the most unpopular whereas the Karla is just the opposite.

If an off road enthusiast or an interested trecker, one should visit these two Point of Interest too
