Wagheshwar Temple Trail

Wagheshwar Temple at Kamshet is not known to many and thus the road to the temple is not in a great state; making it just perfect for the 4×4 enthusiasts explore the way up

I stumbled upon the Slope of Hell while in search for this route to the Wagheshwar temple located on a mountain top visible from the expressway. I have been on a lookout for this road for the last many years that I have travelled to Pune for work. Always wanted to drive this road or should I say wanted to drive the road that did not exist.

Easiest way to access this trail is to jump off the expressway after crossing the second tunnel of Kamshet on the way to Pune and head towards Bedsa Caves. There is a small opening on the left just after the abandoned Police Station, which is hard to miss

On the right of the expressway lies the Slope of Hell, where as the access road to the Wagheshwar Temple is from the left of the expressway. Though the map does not plot this temple, one can always search for Bedsa Cave and take a detour about a KM before the Caves

There is so little literature available about this temple, and neither are the locals around to give details.

The Drive up the hill and back was wonderful. At one point you are at the same height as the Bedsa caves and you can look at it eye to eye

Unlike the Slope of Hell, this stretch of the road does not disappear in to a jungle but provides an excellent opportunity to engage the low range gear. There is a gradual increase in the gradient. Drive aint very difficult.
