Drive Itinerary – Lahaul & Spiti

The ideal time to visit this region is obviously the summers. This is the time when the snow has melted and the Border Road Organization has cleared all the roads for the tourists to ply on

The Lahaul & Spiti circuit usually opens after all roads to key Army destinations are put to use and the supplies are made available to the soldiers and the citizens living there

The Summer Circuit

The best way to travel thru the circuit is always from Narkanda towards the Spiti valley and then enter into Lahaul district which connects to Rohtang La and you exit from Manali

You could embark on this adventurous drive amd make it even more exciting by either heading towards Leh or Killar instead of returning to Manali

My personal choice would be to complete these individual circuits separately. Gives you an opportunity to enjoy the serenity of the region multiple times. Obviously, the experience is also different; but if you are a person or a group who has time in hand and out to put another few ticks on the checklist of items to do before you die, then this is a definite opportunity to die for

Summer Drive – Lahaul & Spiti Valley

Summer Drive into the valley of Lahaul & Spiti is for those who want to experience adventure at the same time have a nice relaxed vacation with the family

The Winter Drive

The valley of Lahaul & Spiti witnesses lot of snow fall in winters; roads beyond Kaza are usually closed once the Kunzum La receives considerable amount of snow. BRO would only clear roads post winters and Spiti is still the last to be cleared

Although it is recommended to drive this circuit in the summers, there in an increasing number of folks seeking for an adventure thrive thru the winters. With snow almost up to the knees and roads covered with black ice and slush; makes it a perfect destination for off road enthusiasts
