Ladakh and Stargazing

One of the prominent city in the eastern region of Ladakh is the city of Hanle. It is the site of the 17th century Hanle Monastery (gompa) of the “Red Hat” Tibetan Drukpa Kagyu branch of Tibetan Buddhism and is located in the Hanle Valley on an old branch of the ancient Ladakh – Tibet trade route.

In the new era Hanle is known to be the home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory. The location of the village and the observatory are highly sensitive due to the close proximity of the Tibetan / Chinese border.

On a clear sky night the constellations and the Milky Way are said to be visible to naked eyes. This trip is planned with an intend to experience this magnificent beauty

Land of Kings & The Great Indian Desert

 

Rajasthan is the jewel in India’s crown. From fairy-tale palaces and epic forts to colorful festivals and wildlife encounters, this is India at its vibrant best. Rajasthan is a northern Indian state bordering Pakistan. Its palaces and forts are reminders of the many kingdoms that historically vied for the region. Rajasthan in literal terms means “Land of Kings” or “King’s Abode”.

The geographic features of Rajasthan are the Thar Desert and the Aravalli Range, which runs through the state from southwest to northeast. Thar Desert, also called Great Indian Desert, arid region of rolling sand hills is located partly in the state of Rajasthan
